CEDERBERG MOUNTAIN BIKE CYCLING
The Cederberg Mountains and surrounding area is a Mountain Bike Paradise. Apart from more than 300km on public roads, there are also a number of routes on private farms, where cyclists can practise their MTB skills. The Clanwilliam Sakekamer recently published a booklet with maps, showing six routes on public roads. These routes vary in distance from 73km (1075m climb) to 242km (3803m climb) and can be combined or shortened. The Cederberg MTB Routes booklet is available at the Clanwilliam Tourist Office, as well as guesthouses and businesses in Clanwilliam. The .gpx files for the six routes can be downloaded below and installed on your GPS. (Please use Google Chrome to download these files)
Apart from the routes on public roads, the following private farms also have routes, where cyclists have to pay a fee to get access.
All the above properties are within cycling distance from each other and more information is available on the Website: https://www.cederberg.co.za/activities/mountain-biking or the websites of the individual farms.
Should you wish to get fit for the Cape Epic or other MTB endurance races, the Cederberg is the area to come and train. Accommodation is available in town or on farms and you can exercise as hard as you wish and also enjoy the scenery, wine and craft beer.
