The Olifants River system has the richest endemic fish population in the country. Endemic species like the Clanwilliam Yellow Fish, the "Rooivlerkie", Clanwilliam Sand Fish and Barnard's "Klipbaber" are not found anywhere else on earth. Please help to protect this fragile ecosystem and educate yourself as to which species are allowed to be caught. Anglers can in fact help, by removing foreign species like Rainbow Trout, Carp and Bass.

Permits can be obtained from any Cape Nature Conservation Office.
